Poem-The return of Saurav Ganguly

December 24, 2005

A couple of weeks ago, many people were peeved by the undignified removal of Saurav Ganguly from the Indian cricket team. Justice has been done and considering the fact that cricket is a religion in India, deserves an appropriate response:-

Many people have felt strongly
About Saurav being dropped wrongly
Let us hope that Ganguly
Is able to face shoaib with as much dexterity as he has faced many a googly
Let us hope that the prnice of Kolkatta comes up with a performance that can be deemed kingly
And make his detractors look ugly
Then all India and not just hoogly(Kolkatta)
Will once again respond to him overwhelmingly
He has off the field grace too, on the ground sometimes a captain has to be Jungly
For the simple reason that most ppl have to be pushed and rarely perform willingly
The sledging Australians or a Shoaib Akhtar can hardly be encountered lovingly
Proportionate Aggression is welcome by anyone whether another Indian or a Bengali

  6. hey thx for dropping by my blog.and i consider myself lucky to find ur blogs.i will be making some crucial career decisions in the coming months and ur blogs could prove to be extremely useful.

btw where did u do ur MBA from??And when did u realise that u didn’t like ur previous work?

  7. I did my MBA from the International Management Institute and while actually working at various jobs, I discovered that this was not my cup of tea. When I wrote poems on my super efficient boss and the company’s expansion and diversification, my boss told me that this was my true inclination which turned out to be true.

  10. yea it was true that the guy was mis-treated and i hope he can make a comeback in pak.

    thanks for droppin

  11. Ah, I find this ending-with-same-syllable poetry rather corny.

Have you read “Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time?”. I reccommend it to one and all. I found it more interesting than “Management books”.

  15. Hey Hiren,
    the poem was very enjoyable!
    Seems like u r a Sourav fan.
But one feels that his inclusion in the team has more to do with off-the-field hullabaloo than his on-the-field performannce.

Btw, A very happy new yr…

  20. Sourav Ganguly the Bengal Tiger,
someone in his childhood gave him Budweiser,
    By birthing mistake an Indian,
His attitude made him an Australian.

    more later…nice poem…

my college mates also like this !

Hope You ‘ll be a ganguly fan !

Happy new year and marry christmas for all the fans of ganguly!

  22. Ganguly has proved himself again ,still I believe he needed to be dropped for a few games .He had become arrogant and self obsessed. All that political interference was unnecessary although. The poem was nice and it sounds nicer after Ganguly is back with runs.A very interesting blog.

  23. very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
